This year we celebrate the eleventh year since the inception of The International Association for The Advancement of Peace as an incorporated not for profit organization. The fundamental values and principles with which we began and upon which we set our mission statement will always be unchanging but the expression and manifestation of these principles are always evolving. The way that the mission was manifest by this organization in the 1990’s and into the new millennium appears to us as but a small representation of the nature of the priority for us now.
The initial motivating factor for the formation of TIAAP was as a support to the peaceworkers who helped orphaned and homeless children worldwide. At that time the Sisterhood of the organization, was beginning through the work with women’s circles. |
|
Our work now, has expanded to service peaceworkers worldwide without specific focus on one group. TIAAP is involved in participation in international conferences and venues through the presentation of values that promote peace and can be applied without limitation or specificity but rather understandable and applicable to all.
The Sisterhood is now actively engaging the practice of the circle by inviting already existing organizations to incorporate the feminine paradigm that it represents. The intention of this work is to encourage gatherings of women to realize the powerful healing potential that exists amidst the simple presence of feminine energy. Engaging the connection between greater health and greater peace.
We are working on adding to the publications that TIAAP offers. Adding to “The Joyous Journey” and “Life is a Gift”; we are working on writing and publishing works that present and promote values that promote peace within individuals and relationships on all levels.
In the near future we will be working with members from the American Psychological Association on setting up programs to be presented at conferences in Colorado, Maryland and Toronto.
Throughout all of the opportunities and varieties of venue of educational concern and group process the core values and principles that TIAAP stands for have been in the forefront of our conviction and our efforts.
All those who are interested in helping to build a more peaceful world, one experience at a time are encouraged to join us!
| ODE TO A PEACEBUILDER
Oh Winged Interpreter; How far you have gone; Where few have ventured forth; But where is thy measure?
What is thy measure? It is not in the world of appearances; Nor in the world of fame or fortune;
It lives and breathes in the Silent Stillness of your own peaceful heart; And in the hearts of those you
have touched With your Peace; A piece of you resides there; Not for now; But Forever.
Lest we never forget. Lest we never forget. This is where true Peace always resides. |
